Understanding disease Polyps

Nasal polyps are a growth like a tumor arising in the nasal cavity in one or both. Nasal polyp disease occurs due to the advent of soft mass that contains a lot of liquid in the nasal cavity, colored grayish white mucosa caused by inflammation such as meat that grows in the nose. Because of its shape is like flesh that grows in the nose nasal polyps is often also called nasal tumors

Basically the flesh that grows in the nose was a growth of the nasal mucous membranes that are benign. mucous membrane formation is closely related to the problems of disease ENT (ear, nose, throat) such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa-paranasal sinuses, cystic fibrosis, intolerance to aspirin. This suggests that the disease is not a disease that nasal polyps pure stands alone.
Factors causing nasal polyps

Nasal polyps are usually grown in areas where the mucous membranes to swell due to fluid retention, such as the area around the hole in the nasal sinuses. initially formed polyps will look like tears and the longer it will change shape as growing meat grayish, mucous membrane growth would result in frequent nasal blockage effect on the sense of smell function decline in patients with nasal polyps. In other cases the blockage can occur in the gastrointestinal mucus from the sinuses to the nose, when this occurs will cause the mucus in the sinuses tertimbunnya potentially lead to infection and eventually lead to sinusitis.

Until now, experts have not found a definitive answer about what triggered the emergence of growth of the mucous membrane in the form of grayish white lumps that stemmed. However, from studies and medical observation, it was found that there are several factors to the growth of the mucous membranes of the chronic recurrent inflammation of the nasal mucosa and paranasal sinuses, impaired vasomotor balance, increased interstitial fluid and edema (swelling) of the nasal mucosa, other causes are:
  • Sinusitis (sinus inflammation) were chronic.
  • Hypersensitivity reactions or allergic reaction of the nasal mucosa that lasts long
  • Nasal obstruction due to anatomic abnormalities that narrow the nasal cavity
  • There is enlargement of the conchae.
  • Irritation
Symptoms of nasal polyps
  • Easy to feel a headache
  • Nasal congestion is settled and always felt that there is mucus in the nasal sinuses.
  • Often mucus from the nasal influenza like symptoms
  • Decreased sense of smell.
  • Cavities often itchy nose and frequent sneezing.
  • Watery eyes because of allergies.
